Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Legislature Parliament has written a letter to the Ministry of Finance, Nepal Rastra Bank and Debt Recovery Tribunal directing them to stop auction of the physical property of Mahalaxmi Garment Industries for the time being.
The Committee has asked the concerned authorities to stop the process of auctioning the property after a long investigation into the case.
The Industry and Rastriya Banijya Bank are in dispute for a long time.
The Industry had knocked at the doors of the PAC stating that the Bank was going to auction the property without providing any opportunity to the industry and at a lower price than the actual market price.
"The Committee has asked the concerned authorities to produce proofs regarding the blame to the Industry. However, they have started the auctioning process ignoring the directives of the Committee," an official at the PAC said.
He added that the Committee has suspected financial misappropriation and other anomalies in this case.
PAC had directed the Bank and other institutions to stop the process as it was still probing into the case.
PAC has planned to summon all the concerned authorities at his office for their views on the issue.
Brij Gopal Inani, Proprietor of the Industry, said that the Industry could pay the loans of the bank easily if it was allowed to operate smoothly.
"Few people, including the staffs of the RBB, are against me and my property. They disturbed smooth operation of my company, creating unnecessary obstacles, at a time when it was running in profit," he said.
The Industry had been exporting readymade garments to various international markets, including Europe and America.
The victims have said that the act of the government agencies and bank had disheartened the export-oriented industrialist.
